Chapter Two- Abundance, Asia, and Automation

In the book, the author stated that back in the 1970s, the middle class parents tell their children the same piece of advise, that is, to get good grades, go to a good college and get a decent job with a decent salary. It surprised me how parents in my home country, Taiwan, are still doing that. In fact, I heard it since I was little and so I started thinking the same way as those parents. For the passed years, I kept telling myself that I have to work and get good grades, so I can go to a good university and then get a decent job. However, after I started reading this book, it kept me wondering and thinking so much that I am not sure what to do now. I know that I am a more left brain directed thinking person, my thinking are pretty linear, sequential and analytical. I felt fine with all that before, and I was going to stay like that for my life. But now, when I do things, I tried to think what a right brain person would do and I would try to balance my left way of thinking and that right way of thinking.

I totally agree with author on his opinion on abundance. Right now, in today's society, people really stopped looking for a normal function object with a reasonable price. We actually start looking for cool designed function things and we would rather pay more money for that!! It's all about creativity now!!

It shocked me when I read the part " The United States spend more on trash bags than ninety other countries spend on EVERYTHING!!!". How is that possible!!?? How can we possibly spend so much money on our waste!!?? This just blew my mind!!:O
